The convention center fills the blocks between 7th and 9th Streets NW from Mount Vernon Place to N Street, with the Marriott Marquis connected across L Street and the Shaw, Penn Quarter and Chinatown neighborhoods around it. During a large convention the curbs on 7th and 9th become taxi and shuttle queues, and the drive out to Dulles at the end of the closing session is the slowest trip of the week. From Dulles the trip typically takes 40 to 65 minutes depending on traffic, via I-66, the Roosevelt Bridge and Constitution Avenue or Massachusetts Avenue. From Reagan National it is usually 15 to 30 minutes across the 14th Street Bridge. The main entrance faces Mount Vernon Place, with additional entrances along 7th Street, 9th Street and L Street near the Marriott Marquis connector; the Mount Vernon Square-Convention Center Metro station is at the building's south end.
